Dead Dove Dining at the Capitol

Some legislators take their job very serious and work hard to solve the real problems that face Michigan families, others just "do" the promotion of dead doves ALL THE TIME. On September 22nd, Representative Tabor and her cronies at the Capitol ate hundreds and hundreds of tiny marble sized breasts of Michigan's doves.

Due to the fact that doves are at their lightest body weight during open season, a properly shot dove yields only a tiny tidbit of "edible" meat. Most recipes - including the one used on Wednesday - call only for the use of the breast of the bird. The breast flesh then has to be covered in heavy sauces and wrapped in salted bacon to help cover up the strong pungent sour citrus after taste. According to reports from some legislators, doves weren't (as Susan Tabor would say) "yum tasty." They had another word - YUK!
