SPC Goes To D.C.

Washington DC - 2002 Legislative Fly-In, sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States and the Fund for Animals, brought the voice of Michigan citizens to the Hill.

This empowering and energizing event was a one-of-a-kind training session for those working on animal protection legislation and included in-the-field experience and several workshops on effective techniques to bring back to Michigan to help save our doves.

Several citizens met with US Reps and Senators to discuss House Concurrent Resolution 275 and the irrational dove shooting agenda facing the nation at this time...including the state of Michigan. Meetings were very educational to congressional members and well received by the offices of our elected officials.

The Songbird Protection Coalition shares the desire to continue the tradition of protection with many national groups who represent a large constituent membership within the state of Michigan. We will now be able to more effectively help those concerned become more politically active and effective for Michigan's mourning dove population.

With your participation, Michigan's majority voice will be heard at the local, state, and national level...thank you for helping Michigan's doves remain a protected species within our borders.
